The Regina Youth Adventure Club is a monthly program for youth who are blind or have low vision. It provides a supportive social setting where participants develop leadership and advocacy skills, build confidence and self-esteem, and gain knowledge about post-secondary education and work transitions. The program fosters independence and self-advocacy while helping youth discover their capabilities. Through leadership roles, community projects, and guest speakers, participants learn to support themselves and others while building meaningful connections. Third Tuesday of every month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the CNIB Regina office.
If you love books, this group is for you! This group features guest authors as well as weeks where a different genre or theme are picked. People read their choice of book on the theme and come ready to discuss. A parent and teen anonymous exchange: A communication bridging workshop for youth with with vision loss and their parents. The workshop is a guided communication experience where parents can better understand their teen’s lived experience, and where youth can feel genuinely heard. Through a guided communication exercise, parents and teens work in separate rooms to reflect anonymously and honestly on what they need, hope for, and want from one another when it comes to the common journey with vision loss. Introducing CNIB Discovery Saturdays! Each month we will explore different skill areas to expand our horizons and connect with peers. Skills we will explore include art, technology, sports and more! This program is for younger children in grades 1 to 5. We will have a combination of days in the office as well as outings. Discovery Saturdays will now be offered 2 times monthly, typically on the first and third Saturday of the month (dependent on holidays) at CNIB Winnipeg.
A Bird-a-Thon is a birding event during which birders try to see or hear as many bird species as possible during a set period of time, in this case, a 24-hour period within two days in May. The goal of the 2nd Annual Global Blind Birder Bird-a-Thon is to encourage blind and partially sighted birders of any age, experience, or location to head outdoors, tune in, and celebrate the sounds and songs that make birding such a powerful practice of connection.
