Your journey starts here!

At CNIB, we believe in building a team that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. Our hiring process is designed to be fair, inclusive, and accessible, ensuring every candidate has the opportunity to succeed. We value both lived and professional experience and welcome all perspectives. Whether you’re applying for your first role or continuing your career with us, here’s what you can expect along the way.

Application

Before applying for a role, take a moment to explore who we are and what we stand for. Carefully review the job description, tailor your resume and cover letter, and prepare your application. You will be asked screening questions based on the requirements for the role; all responses are kept confidential.

Internal applicants are encouraged to share their intentions with their managers before applying and to apply through CNIB’s internal platform.

Resume review

Our people and culture team, along with hiring managers, carefully review each application to assess the candidates' skills, qualifications, and potential fit in line with the role's requirements. We may contact you for additional details or clarification regarding your application. The resume review process typically takes two to three weeks from the time the job posting closes.

Pre-Interview

If you're shortlisted, our talent acquisition team will contact you to schedule a phone screening. Following the screening, we’ll determine whether to move forward with a formal interview.

If you're not selected for an interview, you’ll be notified by email. We encourage you to explore other opportunities at CNIB that align with your skills and experience. We’re always looking for great talent!

Interview

If you’re selected for an interview, we’ll contact you to schedule a time that works for you.

We are committed to inclusive hiring practices, and our interview panels reflect that commitment. If you require an accommodation to participate in an interview, please notify the hiring manager or talent acquisition lead when scheduling your interview.

What to expect from the interview

Interviews may be in-person or online. Most interviews will include the hiring manager and additional team members. Depending on the role, there may be multiple interviews. During the interview, you’ll have the opportunity to learn more about the role and share your skills and experiences with the hiring team. The interview questions are chosen to help us better understand how your experience and skills align with the job's requirements.

Selection & Offer

Once all are complete and the best-fit candidate is selected, we’ll contact you by phone to extend a formal offer. An electronic offer detailing the terms and conditions of the offer will also be sent via email.

All offers are conditional upon satisfactory completion of:

  • Two reference checks and other role-relevant checks as applicable.
  • Police Record Check (Criminal Record or Vulnerable Sector Screening - dependent upon the role).
  • Some positions at CNIB require a Vulnerable Section Check report; the associated cost will be the candidate’s responsibility.

We appreciate the time you’ve invested in the application and interview process. If you’re not selected, we will notify you.

Congratulations and welcome to CNIB!  Once hired, you’ll receive a personalized onboarding experience to help you transition smoothly into your new role.
