The walking group provides a chance for community members who are blind or have low vision to exercise and practice their mobility and travel skills. This group meets every Monday (Tuesday when there is a long weekend) from 10 to 11 a.m.
Life Coaching
Are you interested in personal development? Don’t miss out on this opportunity to grow and connect with others with CNIB Winnipeg's monthly interactive life coaching series. In this group, we will explore topics such as love, dating, relationships, confidence, and much more. Third Thursday of every month from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at CNIB Winnipeg.
Young Adult Social Club
This program offers a fun, safe engaging place for youth ages 18-29 to connect and find a sense of community with each other. Programming will be guided by the interest of the participants, and activities may consist of movie and game nights, karaoke battles, dining out at restaurants and monthly excursions to local attractions. At each event, focus will be placed on fostering self-esteem and enhancing socialization skills. Last Wednesday of every month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at CNIB Winnipeg (unless otherwise specified).
Accessible Yoga
his class is all about making yoga accessible to everyone, no matter your experience or physical ability. You’ll move at your own pace, with support for breathwork and mindfulness throughout. Every Monday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time on Zoom.
Guide Dog AdvoCamp 2025 – Virtual
AdvoCamp is CNIB’s annual flagship event that brings together guide dog handlers from across Canada to build advocacy skills, foster community, and inspire change. This year’s AdvoCamp sessions will be offered virtually via Zoom from September 6-30, so that even more guide dog handlers can access this transformative experience from the comfort of their own homes. CNIB Youth Fantasy Book Club (Ages 10-16)
Youth ages 10 to 16 who enjoy reading from the wealth of fantasy authors, past and present who have entertained us with tales of wizards, warriors, magic, and mystery are encouraged to join this monthly group. 2026 Braille Creative Writing Contest
Write a short story, essay, or poem on any topic or re-purpose something you've written for school this year! Show off your creative writing talents for a chance to win cash prizes. The contest is open to primary and secondary students (grades K-12) who are blind, Deafblind, or have low vision and live in Canada.

Seated Dance Fitness
The program will be delivered by BC Blind Sports facilitators abd offers a variety of inclusive and adaptive fitness programs designed specifically for individuals who are blind, partially sighted, or Deafblind. The program is designed to support physical activity, confidence, and social connection in a safe, welcoming environment. Sessions use clear verbal instruction and adapted movement options, making them accessible to participants of all fitness levels, including older adults and those seeking low impact exercise. Introducing CNIB Discovery Saturdays! Each month we will explore different skill areas to expand our horizons and connect with peers. Skills we will explore include art, technology, sports and more! Birdability is hosting a series of opportunities for learning and community-building each month. These sessions are open, informal, and designed to support both new and experienced participants. Charles Bonnet Syndrome Group
Charles Bonnet Syndrome (CBS) is a reaction to vision loss by the brain, which attempts to replace lost information by drawing from your own memory and various visual centers. CBS occurs in people with significant vision loss, leading to visual hallucinations. This program aims to offer comprehensive information and support for individuals experiencing CBS and their caregivers. It provides a safe space for participants to share their experiences comfortably, build confidence, and help one another cope with the effects of CBS. Tech it Out: ChatGPT for Beginners
Tech It Out is our monthly afternoon session where CNIB Tech Lead Steve MacInnes and Tech Mate volunteer Dave spotlight a different technology or topic each month. Skip the random facts—Less Trivial is all about teamwork and clever thinking. Tackle word puzzles, riddles, number games, Family Feud–style matchups, and even guess songs or soundscapes. Hosted monthly by Jeff deViller, Executive Director of CNIB Maritimes, it’s an evening where everyone can join in, no matter how much you know. In 2026, each month will feature a song, taking it’s lyrics to inspire different rounds of that night’s game. This month’s song is “Creature” by half alive. Manitoba PD Days (May)
At CNIB we know that it can be difficult finding a place for your children with sight loss to go when school is off for the day. We are now offering a program that will supplement the need to find care for some of the shared P.D days across the school divisions within the city while also focusing on life skills. Friday, May 1 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at CNIB Winnipeg.
Birdability: Blind Birder Bird-a-Thon 2026
A Bird-a-Thon is a birding event during which birders try to see or hear as many bird species as possible during a set period of time, in this case, a 24-hour period within two days in May. The goal of the 2nd Annual Global Blind Birder Bird-a-Thon is to encourage blind and partially sighted birders of any age, experience, or location to head outdoors, tune in, and celebrate the sounds and songs that make birding such a powerful practice of connection.
The Healing Leash: Honouring Guide Dog Loss
The Healing Leash: Honouring Guide Dog Loss is volunteer-led peer support group for anyone who has experienced the loss of a Guide Dog—through passing, retirement, or rehoming. Participants will have the opportunity to share their stories, honour their bond, offer mutual support, and gain comfort through shared experiences and insights. The group is open to all. Winnipeg Adjusting To Vision Loss – Spring Session
This four-week program offers a supportive and inclusive environment for individuals adjusting to vision loss. Participants will have the chance to share practical strategies, fostering confidence, independence, happiness, and hope while redefining the experience of sight loss. Every Wednesday (May 6 to 27) from 1 to 3 p.m. at CNIB Winnipeg.
Thursday Games (May)
Everyone loves games. This games group meets to socialize playing 2 to 3 different lively word games for the hour. Sessions are led by our own professional game hosts (aka CNIB staff and volunteers). A Day of Braille
We are excited to invite clients, family members, and professionals who support individuals with vision loss to join us on Tuesday, May 12 for a day of exploration and fun! This is a hybrid event - in-person session at the CNIB London Hub and available online via Zoom. Tuesday, May 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Eastern Time.
Alberta Access To Education Coalition Summit 2026 – Empowering the Next Generation
Join The Alberta Access to Education Coalition (AATEC) and CNIB for our 3rd annual AATEC Summit: Empowering the Next Generation! This 2-day hybrid event was designed specifically to highlight existing resources and programs that will support the empowerment of children & youth with sight loss across Canada. Returning this year, the Youth Summit will once again take place alongside the main information sessions. Created by and for youth with sight loss, this youth-led experience will focus on empowerment, leadership, and strengthening community connections.

Guide Dog AdvoCamp 2026
AdvoCamp is CNIB’s annual flagship event that brings together guide dog handlers from across Canada to build advocacy skills, foster community, and inspire change. Join us June 4-7 at beautiful CNIB Lake Joe!
Manitoba PD Days (June)
At CNIB we know that it can be difficult finding a place for your children with sight loss to go when school is off for the day. We are now offering a program that will supplement the need to find care for some of the shared P.D days across the school divisions within the city while also focusing on life skills. Friday, June 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at CNIB Winnipeg.
CNIB Lake Joe: Adult Leisure #1 (ages 19+)
Escape to the shores of beautiful Lake Joseph in Muskoka and soak in the sun while getting lots of rest and relaxation.
Biblical Peer Support Group
A time for sharing, communion, prayer and praise. Make new friends, deepen existing friendships, find support from your peers. This program is an extension of the Bible Study. The Biblical Peers Support Group meets four times over the summer months from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Central Time on Zoom.

Writing with Feeling: Braille Writers' Retreat
CNIB is now accepting applications for our annual Writing with Feeling Retreat! Whether you're a new braille user with a passion for creative writing or crafting a poem, story, or essay for the CNIB Braille Creative Writing Contest, join CNIB’s Writer’s Retreat for kids and teens with sight loss! Connect with young writers from across Canada, get tips from professional authors, and take part in fun, braille-themed and accessible activities.
