Share your POV (Point of View)! We can all be part of the solution when it comes to showcasing what people who are blind, Deafblind, or have low vision are capable of doing. When you lead by example, you are not only helping educate the public about what accessible, inclusive and adaptive living looks like; you are helping those who are new to the community (and their families) in accessing valuable and life changing perspectives and information.

How many times have you asked or heard the question "How does a blind person do that?" The POV project is here to draw upon the vast lived experience and knowledge of our participants living with vision loss, as well as the allies who are there helping along the way.

Become POV Contributor! Here's how it works:

  • Select a task related to a common question. For example: "How does a person with vison loss pick out their clothes for the day?"
  • Gather your tech. For instance a pair of Meta Ray Ban Glasses, your smartphone, tablet or action camera.
  • Create a short video from your POV (point of view) showing and describing how you as a person with vision loss may accomplish this task
  • Submit video and if it passes a few quality control steps, it could be put on our CNIB Youtube channel where it will serve as a resource tor anyone out there looking for that info. It could help a person new to vison loss, their family, friend, sibling, or anyone on in the world who wants to become more knowledgable and understanding.
  • For those who are interested but have questions or may not have the technology to capture video from their POV, reach out, we do our best to help find a solution.

Interested in becoming a POV contributor?

  • Open to any age. Parental consent required for under age 18.
  • All content contributors will need to sign an acknowledgement which outlines some rules of the program
  • You will be required to attend a zoom info session at the beginning of the program where the group will go over the POV Project, get a chance to ask questions and go over other important information that will make this project an amazing resource for those living with vision loss.

Disclaimer: We will work to ensure that those accessing the POV vides understand that this is only one way to accomplish the task. We want everyone to know that there is not one single right or wrong way to do something with vision loss and your POV will simply be an example of what is possible. We want to always ensure that folks are encouraged to receive proper training from their Vision Loss Rehab professionals to ensure they have the safe and effective skills to start with.

Registration required. To register, please complete the CNIB Auto Registration Form. Once registered, you will receive more details and instructions on how to get started!

Thanks for helping change what it means to be blind, by showing how with the right attitude, tools and support, you can be unstoppable.
