CNIB National Youth Council

The CNIB National Youth Council (NYC) is a group of youth ages 15-30 from across Canada who are passionate about changing what it means to be blind. Under direction of CNIB, the NYC works to ensure that current and new CNIB initiatives, programs, and policies are reflective of, and responsive to, the needs of children and youth who are blind, Deafblind, or have low vision.

Classroom Accessibility Allies

Created by CNIB and the Rick Hansen Foundation, Classroom Accessibility Allies is a free resource to help teachers introduce accessibility and inclusion concepts to primary-grade students. Aligned with commonly identified provincial and territorial educational priorities, Classroom Accessibility Allies is packed with hands-on activities designed to guide students through a structured, process of identifying, addressing and reflecting on barriers to accessibility.

Inclusive Schools Program

CNIB’s Inclusive Schools Program is designed to teach educators and students how to foster inclusion in the classroom for people who are blind or low vision. As part of the program, CNIB has developed free educational resources to increase an understanding of blindness, the importance of creating more accessible and inclusive schools, and how you can support people who are blind or partially sighted in your community.
