The Early Years Speaker Series is a virtual, monthly event where invited guests speak on a range of topics of particular interest for families with children who are blind or low vision and between the ages of 0-6. Families will have the opportunity to ask questions and connect with each other in a casual setting, facilitated by CNIB staff.
On August 17, join CNIB Early Years Specialist, Christina Clarke, and Manager Special Projects Monika Borchert for a demonstration and drop in tech session about CNIB's new app, FirstTap.
Meet FirstTap: a new educational app from CNIB that introduces young learners and their families to Apple’s operating system (iOS) for the iPad. Through fun games and activities, FirstTap helps kids who are blind or have low vision learn commands and gestures (like tapping, swiping, and pinching) to navigate Apple’s built-in vision accessibility features, including the Zoom screen magnifier, VoiceOver screen reader, and more. Created for young children (ages 2+), activities are tailored to different skill levels, so kids can choose exercises that match their age, skill level and interests.
The Early Years Speaker Series meets on Thursday, September 17 from 1 to 2 p.m. Eastern Time on Zoom. Zoom information will be shared after registering.
