Tech It Out is our monthly afternoon session where CNIB Tech Lead Steve MacInnes and Tech Mate volunteer Dave spotlight a different technology or topic each month.

This month, the pair will focus on connecting online. The internet can open doors to friendship, dating, and community, but it’s important to know how to stay safe. This presentation is designed specifically for people who are blind or partially sighted and focuses on practical, real-world strategies for meeting people online with confidence.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Recognize common online scams and red flags
  • Protect your personal information and privacy
  • Safely move from online conversations to in-person meetings
  • Use accessible tools and apps to support safer interactions
  • Trust your instincts and know when to ask for help

Tech it Out meets on Tuesday, February 17 from 2 to 3 p.m. Atlantic Time on Zoom. Zoom information will be shared after registering.
