Nature Awaits! Join us on Sunday, June 28 for a walk in the woods at Hendrie Valley (AKA Cherry Hill Gate) at the Royal Botanical Gardens (RBG) in Burlington.
Half the walk is through the woods and half is over a cattail-marsh beside Grindstone Creek. The area is home to many bird species (from ducks to osprey, warblers to owls), plus chipmunks, squirrels, frogs, fish, etc., along with a variety of trees, plants and flowers. Something for everyone!
The walk will be around 2 kms, round-trip, with about half on a wide wooden boardwalk with guardrails and the rest on a wide, well-maintained dirt trail. The trail is flat except for one hill right at the start. The hill is an even slope about 150m long with a handrail on one side for half the distance. It'll be down on the way in and up on the way out.
