For many Canadians, rideshare services offer a convenient and accessible way to get around. But for people who are blind, Deafblind, or have low vision, particularly those who use a guide dog for mobility, this isn’t always the case.

Many guide dog handlers continue to being denied rides by rideshare drivers despite their legal obligation to transport riders with guide dogs. To help remove barriers to access, CNIB has partnered with Uber Canada to advocate for the rights of Canadians who are blind, Deafblind, or have low vision.

Join Yanique Williams, Public Policy Manager at Uber Canada, Larissa Proctor, Executive Director CNIB Advocacy, Jennifer MacNeil, Manager Talent Pool and Taylor Bauer, Program Lead, Awareness & Community Outreach for a fireside chat to learn more about the steps that Uber Canada has taken to remove barriers for our community, and the work that still needs to be done to ensure that everyone has access to a safe and accessible journey.

The Fireside Chat with Uber Canada takes place on Wednesday, April 22 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time on Zoom. Zoom information will be shared after registering.

Please be advised that you must register for all programs. We kindly ask you to RSVP a minimum of 1 full business day before the start of the program.
