Education Handbook – Alberta

After holding focus groups across Alberta, CNIB created this legal information handbook to provide helpful responses to some of the most common questions we heard. 

In the handbook below, you’ll find: 

• An overview of your most important legal rights related to education
• Answers to common questions like 
  • "My child, who has sight loss, will be starting school soon. What can I do to ensure that my child is accommodated?
  • "I do not agree with the school board's approach to accommodations. What can I do? "
  • "My post-secondary institution has not provided me with the accommodations that I require. What can I do?"
• Links to helpful legal services and community supports
