With generous funding from the Alberta Law Foundation, CNIB has developed Know Your Rights – Alberta, a project that is designed to empower Albertans who are blind, Deafblind, or have low vision to better understand their rights, navigate the Alberta legal system and self-advocate to challenge discrimination.
Know Your Rights – Alberta is based upon an Ontario pilot project developed in 2019 and funded by the Law Foundation of Ontario. While based upon the Ontario pilot, great care has been taken (through focus groups and consultations) to ensure that Know Your Rights – Alberta is specific to the barriers that Albertans who are blind, partially-sighted and Deafblind face on a day-to-day basis.
