CNIB Launches White Cane Access Program in British Columbia

CNIB is excited to announce the launch of its White Cane Access Program, aimed at providing equitable access to white canes for individuals across the country. The program is designed to empower confidence, independence, and autonomy for countless Canadians with sight loss.

Creating an inclusive Calgary where everyone can live, learn, work and play without barriers

The City of Calgary has amended its lease with CNIB at 10 11A ST NE to allow for mixed-use development for both at-market and below-market rent. This amendment enables CNIB to partner with a developer to design an inclusive community, a first of its kind in Canada.

CNIB welcomes accessible transportation standard in Manitoba

WINNIPEG, MB – February 12, 2024 – CNIB welcomes the Government of Manitoba’s announcement on its commitment to make public transit more accessible. Under the Accessible Transportation Standard Regulation, the province has committed to removing barriers to public transportation and creating inclusive transportation systems for all Manitobans, including those who are blind or have low vision.
The recent announcement from Nahanni Fontaine, Manitoba’s Minister of Families and the Minister responsible for Accessibility, marks the province’s fourth accessibility standard enacted under The Accessibility for Manitobans Act.
