From the most towering turbine to the tiniest detail, uncover fascinating stories hidden within the historic Niagara Parks Power Station.
Explore the first major power plant on the Canadian Side of the of the Niagara River with immersive exhibits, restored artifacts and interactive storytelling. Dig deep into the rich history of the century-old power station as you explore this engineering feat from an incredible new perspective, 180 feet beneath the main generating floor. You will descend into the tunnel in a glass paneled elevator. The tunnel served as an exit point for the water used in generating hydropower for over a century. Your journey in the tunnel will take you along the same path travelled by water and lead you a platform where the tunnel emptied in to the Niagara River.
Comfortable shoes are recommended for the tour and almost 1.5 km round trip walk in the Tunnel (aprx 10 minutes walk each way). Transportation to and from is the responsibility of the participant. Please bring a companion as your sighted guide as we not have enough volunteers. Upon registration, you will be asked whom you are bringing to account for numbers. Meeting spot details, etc. will be given upon registration.
