The CNIB Mobile Hub is visiting Sylvan Lake, Alberta on Friday, September 25 from 12 to 2 p.m. at the Sylvan Lake Municipal Library (4715 50 Avenue, Sylvan Lake).
Join us for an interactive drop-in event where you can meet CNIB staff, discover free programs, services, and resources for people who are blind, Deafblind, or have low vision, explore accessible technology and connect with others in the sight loss community.
Discover Accessible Technology on Your iPhone or iPad
This session is focused on information sharing and demonstrations. Discover accessibility features, tools and apps that can make your iPhone or iPad easier to use.
During this approximately 2 hour presentation, we'll explore:
- iPhone & iPad Low Vision Features: Explore magnification, Zoom, colour adjustments, Speak Screen and other built-in accessibility features.
- VoiceOver: Learn the basics of Apple’s built-in screen reader and how it can help you navigate your device.
- Siri: Discover how to use your voice to make calls, send messages, set reminders, check the weather and more.
- Calls, Texts & Emails: Learn the basics of making calls, checking voicemail, sending texts and using email. Writing: Dictation (speech-to-text.)
- Assistive Apps: Get an introduction to Seeing AI for reading text and describing people, objects and surroundings, and Be My Eyes for connecting with sighted volunteers for visual assistance.
What to Expect
This is an introductory session covering all these topics. No previous technology experience is required. After the session, referrals can be made for more focused technology support if you would like to explore a specific topic further.
