Manitoba Community Engagement Volunteers

Community Engagement Volunteers provide public awareness and education, and advocate to break down barriers faced by people who are blind or partially sighted. Together, this dynamic group of individuals will work to Change attitudes about the lived experience of blindness, engage with policymakers to address the need for safe and accessible travel, and actively support our youth, so they can thrive. Connect with other passionate individuals, build your confidence, and learn the skills to effectively advocate. Last Thursday of every month from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Zoom.

Saskatchewan Community Engagement Volunteers

The advocacy volunteers are people who are blind or partially sighted, their friends or family, or anyone who has a connection to the mission and wants to make a difference in their community. They are self-starters who can bring together community and drive local grassroots campaigns as well as support national advocacy issues in their region through collaborating with others. Second Wednesday of every month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Central Time on Zoom.

Working Voices

This program is designed to empower participants to feel more comfortable when applying to jobs. Learn more about disclosure, accommodation, navigation, communication and disability – and exchange of thoughts and ideas with others in attendance. Last Monday of every month from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. CST on Zoom.

Guide Dog AdvoCamp 2025 – Virtual

AdvoCamp is CNIB’s annual flagship event that brings together guide dog handlers from across Canada to build advocacy skills, foster community, and inspire change. This year’s AdvoCamp sessions will be offered virtually via Zoom from September 6-30, so that even more guide dog handlers can access this transformative experience from the comfort of their own homes. CNIB is hosting four online focus groups to learn more about the barriers people with blindness and sight loss face when accessing health care in Alberta. Your feedback will help improve health care accessibility in Alberta for everyone.

Accessibility Advisory Committee Network – Information Session

For those not currently on but interested in joining an accessibility advisory committee (AAC) in their region. This session will provide practical information, opportunities to ask questions, and guidance on how you can play an active role in strengthening accessibility and advocacy in your region. Supporting a Loved One with Sight Loss: A Practical Allyship Workshop

Do you have a friend or family member with sight loss and want to feel more confident supporting them in everyday life? Join us for a friendly, informative workshop designed specifically for loved ones. In this session, we’ll explore what sight loss really means, discuss practical ways to offer support, and share tips on being a strong ally, at home, in public, and in moments that matter. Whether you’re new to sight loss or looking to deepen your understanding, this workshop will give you the tools, insight, and confidence to help your loved one thrive. Wednesday, March 4 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Mountain Time on Zoom.

Guide Dog Handlers Chat Group

This is a safe and supportive place for guide dog handlers from across the country to get together and chat. Share the joys and challenges of being a guide dog handler as well as tips to keep our guide dogs happy and engaged. Biweekly on Wednesday from 5 to 6 p.m. Eastern Time on Zoom.
