Stories from Our Community

At CNIB, our community is at the heart of everything we do. These stories highlight some of the extraordinary people we serve across Canada, and the challenges and victories that shape their journeys with sight loss.

Behind every story is a network of support. Thanks to donor generosity, CNIB can continue delivering programs and services that build confidence, strengthen independence, and foster connection for people of all ages impacted by blindness.

10 Under 10

Meet 10 incredible kids under the age of 10 who are redefining childhood with blindness or low vision through play, learning, and big dreams.

Feeling Safer

For Cheri, everyday life felt unpredictable and unsafe until her CNIB guide dog, Sassy, helped her feel more confident moving through the world.

Side by Side

Once fearful of being out on his own, Kaiden found confidence, friendship, and a sense of security through his beloved buddy dog, Flinn.

Work with Purpose

After sight loss left Matt questioning his career, CNIB’s Come to Work program helped him find meaningful employment and reclaim his confidence.

Finding Hope

After losing his sight during cancer treatment, Ollie found joy and confidence again with the support of CNIB, his buddy dog, Hope, and a community that has his back.

Ending Isolation

When distance and transportation make support hard to reach, the CNIB Mobile Hub brings connection and community right to our participants’ own backyards.
