On September 3rd and 11th, Pacific Rim International Music & Education (PRIME) Society held 2 separate individual piano solo recitals showcasing the talents of 13-year-old Danika Liu and 12-year-old Liya Pan, both of whom are under the tutelage of Artistic Director/Teacher - Mr. Edward Han Jiang.

Both recitals were also a fundraising initiative to raise funds and awareness to the CNIB Guide Dog Program.

PRIME Society sold tickets to both recitals and generously donated 100% of the ticket proceeds to CNIB Guide Dogs to raise awareness of the program.

The first recital was held at the Roy Barnett Music Hall at the University of British Columbia, featuring Danika Liu performed Chinese piano works, raised an amazing $3,030. The second recital was held at Pratt Hall at the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra School of Music, featuring Liya Pan performed complete book of Chopin Etude Op.10, raised an incredible $1,530. Through this funding, CNIB can continue to provide vital programming that is reducing social isolation, breaking barriers to inclusion, and ensuring an accessible world for everyone. This funding made it possible for individuals with sight loss to live full, independent lives with the assistance of their guide dog.

Special recognition to Dr. Stephen Chatman, board member of PRIME Society who was on hand at each recital with Richard Woo, Associate – Philanthropy (CNIB BC) for a cheque presentation to announce the significant amount raised.

On behalf of everyone we serve who has been impacted by blindness we are immensely grateful to PRIME Society’s commitment to the work CNIB is doing to ensure every individual who is blind or partially sighted has the same opportunities as their sighted peers.
