CNIB Know Your Rights is now available in Nova Scotia!

Main Content

CNIB's Know Your Rights project aims to empower people who are blind, Deafblind, or have low vision to better understand their rights, navigate provincial legal systems and self-advocate to challenge discrimination.

With generous funding from the Law Foundation of Nova Scotia and support from the Legal Information Society of Nova Scotia, we’re excited to announce that the Know Your Rights project has officially expanded to Nova Scotia!

The Know Your Rights project focuses on presenting legal information in a way that speaks directly to the needs of our community. We created plain-language resources that are structured around nine different topic areas:

  1. Employment
  2. Education
  3. Housing
  4. Health care
  5. Government and Consumer Services
  6. Transportation
  7. Built Environment
  8. Legal Services and Community Resources
  9. Human Rights in Nova Scotia

To make the legal information easily accessible, we developed an interactive website that brings all nine topic areas together in one convenient resource hub. The site features different real-life scenarios with related questions and answers tailored to each topic area. You’ll also find an overview of important legal rights, links to helpful legal resources, community supports, and PDF versions of the legal information handbooks available for download.

Visit cnib.ca/knowyourrightsNS to explore all of these free resources and familiarize yourself with your legal rights!

If you have questions or comments, please email jenna.persaud@cnib.ca.
