Join us for a discussion about accessible reading options. We'll explore the features, usability and accessibility of a variety of accessible reading options from free accessible libraries to AI and physical readers, and more. We would love to hear from anyone with daily experience using accessible reading tech or platforms. So, whether you want to learn or share tips, join us for a snack, a hot beverage and a chat!

Tech Talks & Tea meets on Friday, April 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at CNIB Thunder Bay.

Maritimes Adjusting To Sight Loss Group – Winter Series
Adjustment to Sight Loss (A2SL) is a 7-week virtual series where participants connect with others who are either new to sight loss or who have been living with it for some time and are now coming to terms with it. Hosted by Laura Bain and Natalie Fougere, these sessions will cover topics including mental health and sight loss, communication, advocacy, and independent living skills.  The Adjustment to Sight Loss  program is designed to give participants “tools for their toolbelt” as they continue their personal journey.

You'll be encouraged to sing, play instruments, participate in breathing exercises and move your body or tap your feet to the music. Percussion instruments will be made available and we encourage you to bring your instrument of choice, should you have one. Bring your song suggestions, make some new friends and learn something new, every month! Fourth Wednesday of every month from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the CNIB Ottawa Community Hub.

Accessible Technology Training – Thunder Bay

CNIB SmartLife Coach, Sara Salo, and technology volunteers are here to help participants get familiarized with SmartLife Assistive Technology, to assist with making smartphones and tablets more accessible and to recommend and offer demos on accessibility apps. Online training is also available upon request. Appointments are available Tuesday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at CNIB Thunder Bay.

TWSI Twist

Join artist Betty Carpick to put a spin on Tactile Walking Surface Indicators (TWSI) through art. We'll be making a collaborative TWSI soft sculpture with wool felt and a combination of neon beads and neon wool roving. No art skills necessary! Every Wednesday for six weeks (February 26 to April 1)  from 1 to 3 p.m. at CNIB Thunder Bay.
