The CNIB Mobile Hub is visiting Prince George, BC on Wednesday, September 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Q3 Creative Business Hub (1299 3rd Ave, Prince George).

Drop in to meet CNIB staff and learn more about free programs and resources for people who are blind, Deafblind, or have low vision. Enjoy a day of recreational and social activities, technology workshops, and much more. Experience the latest breakthroughs in assistive tech from CNIB SmartLife and connect with other members of the sight loss community. Our free programs are designed to educate, entertain, and engage community members who are blind, as well as their families, friends, and caregivers. 

CNIB program leads will be on-site to discuss and provide information about free programs available through CNIB, share advice from our assistive technology experts, and other resources for people living with blindness or any degree of vision loss. We’ll also offer hands-on demonstrations of accessible tech products from CNIB SmartLife and select on-site purchased can be made (debit or credit only) during the visit. 

Below, you will find a copy of the program schedule. While registering for the Mobile Hub is strongly encouraged, walk-ins are also welcome. To register, please complete the CNIB Auto Registration Form or call 1-800-563-2642.

CNIB Mobile Hub – Prince George schedule 

  • 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  CNIB SmartLife: Accessible products are available to test and purchase by debit or credit (no cash). View the accessible product catalogue to browse the most popular items from CNIB SmartLife’s wide range of helpful consumer products. 
  • 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Welcome Session
  • 11:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. Peet Support: Join us for a session of Peer Support and connect with other members of your community and talk about topics close to your heart, as a person living with vision loss
  • 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Pizza Lunch
  • 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Intro to Assistive Technology Workshop: The CNIB Tech team will demonstrate the benefits of using assistive technology for work, school and play. Learn new tools and tricks to add to your toolkit!
  • 2:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Light Refreshments & Social

Voices For Independence (Sudbury) - July 11
Sudbury
The Voices for Independence program is designed to support children and adults who are blind or have low vision, aged 40 years and younger, in building confidence and independence through accessible voice technology. The program aims to increase independence, digital literacy, and community connection among children and adults with sight loss through accessible voice technology training. Each participant receives their own device at no cost, along with structured training and ongoing support. The program begins July 11 at CNIB Sudbury (1545 Regent St Suite 104).

Sight Loss Connect – Windsor
Sight Loss Connect is a monthly group for people living with sight loss to come together, connect, and share their experiences. It’s a relaxed, welcoming space where you can talk openly, listen to others, and learn from shared experiences. The group is shaped by the people who attend, so topics will focus on what matters most to you. You can expect conversation-based sessions where we talk about real-life experiences, challenges, and practical tips for navigating sight loss, while building connections and supporting one another. aturday, July 11 and August 8 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Zoom.

Come chat with Lawrence and his co-hosts as they guide discussions on “All Things Music” CNIB’s virtual music group for blind and low vision musicians and music lovers! This group is a space to connect, share, and discuss everything music-related, from instruments and songs to tips, resources, and performances. Second Saturday of every month from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Atlantic Time on Zoom.

Introduction to iPhone and VoiceOver

Are you an iPhones user and looking to learn VoiceOver? This four-week program will teach you the basics for navigating your iPhone and teach you simple tricks and tools for making and ending calls sending messages and having your questions answered by Siri.
