The CNIB Mobile Hub is visiting St. Albert, Alberta on Thursday, September 3 from 12 to 6 p.m. at the St. Albert and District Community League (17 Perron Street, St. Albert). A late lunch will be provided via food truck.
Over the past few months, we’ve been hearing from participants in St. Albert and the surrounding area about the topics, resources, and supports you would like to learn more about. We’ve taken that feedback and are planning a full afternoon of presentations, practical learning, resources, and opportunities to connect.
Throughout the afternoon, we are planning sessions based on the feedback we received from participants, including:
- CNIB programs, services, and opportunities to get involved
- The CNIB Ambassador Program and how you can use your lived experience to make a difference
- Self-advocacy and practical strategies for communicating your needs and helping friends and family better understand how to support you
- Technology sessions featuring tools that can support independence and everyday life
- Information and resources from Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada
- We are also inviting local community partners and services to join us for a community resource area.
Our hope is to give you an opportunity to connect directly with organizations in St. Albert, learn more about the services and supports available in your community, and ask questions. Whether you are looking to build your advocacy skills, learn about available supports, explore technology, meet others in the sight loss community, or simply get some questions answered, we hope there will be something valuable for you throughout the day. You are welcome to attend the full event or join us for the portions of the afternoon that are most relevant to you. We hope you’ll join us for an afternoon of learning, connection, and community!
