CNIB is inviting people who are blind, Deafblind, or have low vision and live in the Calgary area to join us for a community discussion on October 19 about their experiences using Calgary Transit.
We want to hear directly from riders about what's working well, what challenges they face, and what improvements would make public transit more accessible, safe, and easier to navigate.
Your feedback will help Calgary Transit better understand the experiences of passengers who are blind, Deafblind, or have low vision. The information shared during the discussion will be kept anonymous and will contribute to a joint accessibility project between CNIB and Calgary Transit aimed at assessing transit accessibility and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Monday, October 19 from 1 to 3 p.m. at CNIB Calgary (10 11a St NE, Calgary, AB). Light refreshments will be provided.
Please be advised that you must register for all programs. We kindly ask you to RSVP a minimum of 1 full business day before the start of the program.
Registration required. To register, please complete the CNIB Auto Registration Form.
If you ride Calgary Transit, we encourage you to reflect on your recent transit experiences before attending. Consider things such as:
- Trip planning
- Getting to and from bus stops or transit stations
- Boarding and exiting vehicles
- Signage and announcements
- Wayfinding and navigation
- Safety and independence while travelling
Whether you ride transit every day or only occasionally, your perspective matters. By sharing your experiences and ideas, you can help shape a more accessible transit system for everyone.
If you have any questions, or if you would prefer to provide your feedback through an online survey or over the phone, please contact Rishma Mawani, Coordinator, Ambassador Program at rishma.mawani@cnib.ca or call 1-800-563-2642.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences and insights. Your feedback will help us identify opportunities to improve transit accessibility and support safer, more independent travel for people who are blind, Deafblind, or have low vision.
Because everyone should be able to rely on public transit to travel safely, confidently, and independently.
