Canada Post strikes are delaying much-needed donations to CNIB
If you’ve been following the news, you know Canada Post workers are now taking part in rotating strikes across the country. While some areas continue to see regular delivery, others are experiencing delays as postal operations pause and restart from one community to the next.
At CNIB, we know many generous supporters still choose to send their donations by mail, and we’re so grateful for that. Unfortunately, these strikes mean mailed donations, receipts, and other letters may take longer than usual to reach us or make their way back to you.
But while mail delivery has slowed, the need for CNIB programs has not. Every day, Canadians who are blind, Deafblind, or have low vision count on life-changing programs like CNIB Guide Dogs, Come to Work, peer support, and accessible technology – and that work continues.
“Every gift matters, and we’re so thankful for the kindness and patience of our donors,” says Danielle Brown, vice president of philanthropy at CNIB. “Even with these postal delays, your support is helping Canadians who are blind, Deafblind, or have low vision lead fuller, more independent lives every single day.”

If you’ve already mailed a donation
Thank you so much for your generosity. We will work diligently to process your donation and send your tax receipt as quickly as possible once it’s received. During the strike activity, Canada Post has suspended service guarantees, so your tax receipt may take longer to reach you during this time.
If you recently became a monthly donor, your welcome package is also on its way and will arrive once service returns to normal.
