Bright Futures: Brand New Five-a-Side Soccer Pitch

CNIB Lake Joe is the first Canadian organization selected by the STC (Synthetic Turf Council) for their annual Community Service Project. The STC is donating a synthetic turf soccer pitch to CNIB Lake Joe, providing an incredible awareness opportunity for both organizations.

STC Board of Directors Secretary and CNIB Lake Joe volunteer Mark Klementti of RK & Associates serves as project manager. The field is scheduled to be dedicated at CNIB Lake Joe 60th Anniversary celebrations in August. Mark and the STC are reaching out to their members and networks to secure $150,000 in donations, materials, supplies and in-kind construction to support this project.

With just a few minor adaptations, almost any sport can be played by people who are blind or partially sighted. Having access to sports and recreation programming at CNIB Lake Joe means kids and adults of all ages can experience the social, emotional and physical benefits of participating in sporting activities, realize their potential, and learn how to get involved in or advocate for adaptive sports in their communities.
