About the Know Your Rights – Prince Edward Island project

Main Content

With generous funding from the Law Foundation of Prince Edward Island and The Law Foundation of Ontario’s Access to Justice Fund, CNIB has developed Know Your Rights – Prince Edward Island, a project that is designed to empower Prince Edward Islanders who are blind, partially sighted or Deafblind to better understand their rights, navigate the Prince Edward Island legal system and self-advocate to challenge discrimination.

Know Your Rights – Prince Edward Island is based on the Ontario pilot project developed in 2019 and funded by the Law Foundation of Ontario. While based upon the Ontario pilot, great care has been taken (through focus groups and consultations) to ensure that Know Your Rights – PEI is specific to the barriers that Islanders who are blind, partially-sighted and Deafblind face on a day-to-day basis.
