CNIB Advocacy Mentorship Network

Advocacy is a powerful tool to dismantle systemic barriers, challenge discrimination and create change by raising awareness, influencing policies, and mobilizing community members to get involved. But finding your voice and learning how to become an advocate can sometimes feel intimidating or overwhelming. That’s why we created the CNIB Advocacy Mentorship Network, and after a successful first cohort, we’re now opening applications for our second!

Guide Dog Handlers Chat Group

This is a safe and supportive place for guide dog handlers from across the country to get together and chat. Share the joys and challenges of being a guide dog handler as well as tips to keep our guide dogs happy and engaged. Biweekly on Wednesday from 5 to 6 p.m. Eastern Time on Zoom.

Saskatchewan Community Engagement Volunteers

The advocacy volunteers are people who are blind or partially sighted, their friends or family, or anyone who has a connection to the mission and wants to make a difference in their community. They are self-starters who can bring together community and drive local grassroots campaigns as well as support national advocacy issues in their region through collaborating with others. Second Wednesday of every month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Central Time on Zoom.

Fireside Chat with Uber Canada

Join Yanique Williams, Public Policy Manager at Uber Canada, Larissa Proctor, Executive Director CNIB Advocacy, Jennifer MacNeil, Manager Talent Pool and Taylor Bauer, Program Lead, Awareness & Community Outreach for a fireside chat to learn more about the steps that Uber Canada has taken to remove barriers for our community, and the work that still needs to be done to ensure that everyone has access to a safe and accessible journey. Help improve public transit in Edmonton and Winnipeg: Take our transit rider survey

CNIB is inviting Edmonton and Winnipeg residents to ride their local transit services and complete a short survey about their rider experience. Your input will help Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) and Winnipeg Transit better understand the experiences of passengers who are blind, Deafblind, or have low vision, including what's working well and where improvements are needed.

The 30 Club

The 30 Club is an advocacy-focused support group designed to empower people who are blind, Deafblind, or have low vision to feel more comfortable when applying to jobs. We'll cover topics around disclosure, accommodation, navigation, communication and disability. First Sunday of every month from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Central Standard Time on Zoom.
