Team CNIB Enters International Song Competition!

Main Content

Hosted by The German Federation of the Blind and Partially Sighted (DBSV) and VIEWS International, The International Low-Vision Song Contest (ILSC) is a music contest for blind and visually impaired musicians. The contest provides a global platform for musicians to share their art and talent, to inspire and entertain. Organizations representing their respective countries submit a song to compete in the contest, and the winner is determined through online voting.

CNIB’s submission, a song called Common Ground, was composed and performed by Jade Ondrik, Music Specialist at CNIB Lake Joe, and Measha Brueggergosman-Lee, CNIB Brand Ambassador.

Listen to Common Ground (available in English only):

The lyrics to Common Ground are derived from a poem of the same name written by Chief R. Stacey LaForme, Chief of the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation. The poem was used with permission from Chief R. Stacey LaForme.

Tune in to watch the Grand Finale and vote for your favourite song!  Watch the ILSC Grand Finale stream on YouTube this Friday, May 12th, at 2 p.m. Eastern Time | 8 p.m. Central European Summer Time.

Voting will open after the live stream ends, and audiences have about 20 minutes to submit their online vote. The song that receives the most votes wins!

Note: Audiences have one vote and can’t vote for their home country.

On behalf of all of us at CNIB, congratulations Jade and Measha – and good luck on Friday!
