With generous funding from the Law Foundation of Newfoundland & Labrador and The Law Foundation of Ontario’s Access to Justice Fund, CNIB has developed Know Your Rights – Newfoundland and Labrador, a project that is designed to empower Newfoundland and Labrador residents who are blind, partially sighted or Deafblind to better understand their rights, navigate the Newfoundland and Labrador legal system and self-advocate to challenge discrimination.
Know Your Rights – Newfoundland and Labrador is based on the Ontario pilot project developed in 2019 and funded by the Law Foundation of Ontario. While based upon the Ontario pilot, great care has been taken (through focus groups and consultations) to ensure that Know Your Rights – Newfoundland and Labrador is specific to the barriers that Newfoundland and Labrador residents who are blind, partially-sighted and Deafblind face on a day-to-day basis.
