CNIB Lake Joe Staff & Volunteer Alumni

Main Content

Since CNIB Lake Joe first opened its doors in 1961, staff and volunteers like you have been creating life-changing opportunities for people with sight loss and their families. You made a difference then, and we invite you to continue making a difference now as part of the CNIB Lake Joe Staff & Volunteer Alumni. It’s easy, fun and free!

Get started

If you are a current or past staff member or volunteer, join the alumni by completing a short online questionnaire. There’s no fee to join!

Have fun

Once you’ve signed-up, we’ll start connecting you with like-minded individuals who share a passion and commitment to CNIB Lake Joe. Some will be old friends you toasted marshmallows with at the campfire back in the day. Others will be friends you haven’t met yet! Join our CNIB Lake Joe Alumni Facebook group for updates.

Stay in the loop

We will also share news you can use about what’s new and exciting at CNIB Lake Joe. We hope you’ll see how your achievements have made it possible for Lake Joe to grow, evolve and adapt to constant changes.

Key Projects!

As part of our growing CNIB Lake Joe community, you can create your legacy for future generations of people with sight loss! There are two important initiatives we are working on for alumni who want to roll up their sleeves:

  1. Send kids to camp! Donate at www.cnib.ca/SendKidsToCamp to support our subsidy and bursary programs. You can remove barriers of registration and transportation costs and enable more children and youth to experience the 'magic of camp'.
  2. Participate in our spring work weekend, May 3-5, 2024.

Down the road, our dream is to  build “Billy’s Bunkie.” The last original 1961 building on site will be retrofitted and repurposed as a dedicated space where staff and volunteers come together for team building, training, program planning, recharging and refreshing. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting this building, you know how important this is! We want to name this building in honour of Bill Vastis, a passionate advocate, loyal mentor and devoted CNIB Lake Joe team member who passed away unexpectedly January, 2019. It was always his dream to have an active Lake Joe alumni.

Please help us spread the word about this awesome alumni opportunity to all your Lake Joe contacts (staff and volunteers). The more the merrier!
