About Pete

Pete is a bright, curious, and energetic young dog who thrives on mental and physical engagement. He loves exploring his environment and quickly learns new skills when guided with positive reinforcement. One of his favorite activities is relaxing on the deck, quietly watching the world go by — when he’s not chasing his soccer ball or catching a frisbee!

Pete is a fantastic retriever and enjoys toy exchange games, happily trading one toy for another during playtime. He is sensitive to loud noises and unfamiliar environments, so a calm, structured home with gentle handling will help him feel secure and confident.

A good fit for me is…

  • A calm, experienced adopter able to provide clear boundaries and consistency
  • A sizeable, fully fenced yard for safe play
  • A commitment to positive reinforcement-based training and ongoing socialization
  • Respectful, compatible dog companions (or as an only dog)
Pete, wearing a leash, sits on a wooden dock near a body of water. Pete has his mouth open and his tongue is hanging out.

My personality traits are…

  • Affectionate and intelligent: Loves being near his people and enjoys gentle belly or bum rubs!
  • Energetic: Thrives when given room to run and play
  • Gentle but learning: Still developing emotional regulation and benefits from patient guidance
  • Needs consistency: Will test boundaries and requires clear expectations

Training notes

  • Walks best on a martingale collar due to head sensitivity
  • Excels at scent-based games and trail walks
  • When stressed, may grab a handler’s sleeve — adopters must be comfortable redirecting this behaviour consistently and calmly
