Join CNIB for a free, virtual legal education workshop where three panelists will discuss legal rights in the context of employment (from recruitment to leaving work), subtle forms of discrimination, and the tools that you can use to identify and challenge discrimination when it occurs.

Some of the issues/questions that will be put to the panel include:

  • An individual with sight loss has an excellent job interview, but is not hired for the job;
  • A company implements a customer relationship management software that is not accessible to an employee with sight loss; and
  • Upon losing their sight, an individual’s responsibilities are significantly reduced and delegated to others within the organization.

Upon registering for the workshop, participants will also be given an opportunity to submit questions for the panel. While not all questions will be addressed, the discussion will be educational, and will hopefully leave you feeling confident and empowered to self-advocate and challenge discrimination when it occurs.  Please note that this workshop is being provided for educational purposes only. It cannot be interpreted or relied upon as legal advice. If you require legal advice, please contact a community legal service provider.

The Addressing Discrimination in the Workplace meets on Zoom,  Thursday, May 9 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Zoom information will be provided after registering.

Please be advised that you must register for all programs. We kindly ask you to RSVP a minimum of 1 full business day before the start of the program.
