Event Type
In Person
Program Type
Children & Youth Programs

This fun, family and community based program is designed to accomplish a few things:

  1. Have Fun!
  2. Get out and explore your community trails, paths, parks, with family and friends.
  3. Practice your Orientation and Mobility skills and gain confidence walking, hiking and potentially working with a sighted guide.

How it works:

  1. Sign up!
  2. Receive your "Hike Checklist"
  3. Explore trails, paths, parks in your community, or join us on one of our group hikes we will have sprinkled throughout the region.
  4. Check off the various types of trails and paths that are listed on your "kike checklist". Think of it as a hiking scavenger hunt!
  5. Post your photos to our What's App Group or send to Ryan so he can share to the group. At the end of the challenge, folks who have participated and submitted photos and videos of their hikes will be entered into a draw to sin win a Sport Chek gift card!

What's on the checklist?

There will be quite a few things you can hunt for on your hikes. These may include trails that contain gravel, a wooden bridge or boardwalk, a stream, lake, pond, stairs or hills, etc. You may be able to check off multiple things in one hike!

How do I choose or find a hike near me?

In order to find the hikes near you, check out a few of these options:

  • AllTrails.com
  • Local Conservation Areas
  • Provincial Parks
  • Municipal Website and the Parks/Rec Department
  • Facebook walking, hiking, running groups in your region
  • CNIB Hikes! (we will host a couple hikes throughout the challenge but they will be randomly spread across the region, so you need to take initiative and find the hikes that are near you and help you check off the check list. We will email you the CNIB hike days / locations as they come up.

The challenge starts now – And we will keep the challenge open until August 31. This gives you plenty of time to explore!

Registration required. To register, please complete the CNIB Auto Registration Form.
