The Vision Mate program is CNIB's flagship initiative for one-on-one support. Vision Mate volunteers are matched up with a person who is blind or partially sighted to provide one-on-one sighted assistance and companionship.

Experience the benefits of play to engage children with learning braille. Using the LEGO Braille Bricks you'll discover the principles of learning through play, and how to apply these when teaching pre-braille and braille, using LEGO Braille Bricks. We have LEGO Braille Bricks that families can borrow in Saskatoon and Saskatchewan North. Lego sets are available in French and English.

The family fun days are an opportunity for families with children or youth who have vision loss to get together and learn from each other and support one another. This is also a great time for the children and youth to be able to play with other children or youth who have vision loss as well as children or youth who do not have vision loss but understand the struggles they are facing. The Family Fun Days will run two times a year each one with a different type of activity or outing. The ukulele is a fun way to start your musical journey if you have never played a stringed instrument before. This program is designed for children (ages 7-14)  to increase their knowledge of coding utilizing a tactile coding system called Code Jumper. This program is guided with curriculum developed by Microsoft to help the kids learn the basics of how code is built and used, using Code Jumper. We will walk participants through the basics of coding and gradually getting more difficult. At the end of the session, they will be able to show what they have learned. This program meets at CNIB Regina every Monday (beginning October 16th) from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

The ability to advocate for oneself is an essential skill for individuals who are blind or partially sighted. Affective self-advocacy allows individuals the opportunity to communicate clearly and confidently in order to get around the barriers for any given situation. You don’t need to be a subject matter expert or be best friends with your local MP to be an effective self-advocate. An effective self-advocate uses their own skills and resources to navigate systems, build relationships, and create change. Through this 4-week workshop, you'll learn the essential skills and resources of self-advocacy. Self-Advocacy 101 is a 4-week workshop that will help teach you the 6 steps to be an affective self-advocate.
