CNIB is hitting the road to bring our innovative programs to life in your community! Meet the CNIB Mobile Hub – a new program delivery model where we visit your community to deliver in-person programming at no cost to you.

We’d love for you to join us when we visit Oakville, Ontario at the Oakville Public Library – Glen Abbey Branch (1415 Third Line, Oakville) on Monday, May 6 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Drop in to meet CNIB staff and learn more about free programs and resources for people who are blind, Deafblind, or have low vision. Enjoy a day of recreational and social activities, technology workshops, and much more. Experience the latest breakthroughs in assistive tech from CNIB SmartLife and connect with other members of the sight loss community. 

Our free programs are designed to educate, entertain, and engage community members who are blind, as well as their families, friends, and caregivers. Below, you will find a copy of the program schedule. While registering for Mobile Hub programs is strongly encouraged, walk-ins are also welcome. To register over the phone, please call 1-800-563-2642.

CNIB Mobile Hub – Oakville schedule 

1. CNIB SmartLife: Monday, May 6, 10:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Accessible products are available to test and purchase by debit or credit (no cash). View the accessible product catalogue to browse the most popular items from CNIB SmartLife’s wide range of helpful consumer products. Want to try before you buy? Ask about the SmartLife Tech @ Home program.

2. Oakville Public Library Services: Monday, May 6, 10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Our guest speaker, Ryan, will deliver a presentation about accessible services and programs offered by the Oakville Public Library. There will also be a short Q&A at the end of the presentation. Register for Oakville Public Library Services.

3. Inclusive Schools Program: Monday, May 6, 11:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.

Join Ben to learn more about CNIB's Inclusive Schools program: a new initiative designed to teach educators and students how to foster inclusion in the classroom for people who are blind or have low vision. As part of the program, CNIB has developed free educational resources designed to increase an understanding of blindness, the importance of creating more accessible and inclusive schools, and how you can support people who are blind or partially sighted in your community. 4. CNIB Guide Dogs Info. Session: Monday, May 6, 1:15 p.m. – 2:15 p.m.

Meet Ziggy – an Ambassador Dog with CNIB Guide Dogs. Learn more about the guide dog program including eligibility and how to register. We will end the presentation with a Q&A session. Register for CNIB Guide Dogs Info. Session.

5. Information about Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada (VLRC) and CNIB Deafblind Community Services (DBCS): Monday, May 6, 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Have you heard of  Vision Loss Rehabilitation Ontario (VLR) or CNIB Deafblind Community Services (DBCS) Don't know if you should be registered with the organization, or how to? Come and join us for coffee and snacks as you learn about the programs and services offered by VLRC and DBCS. Register for VLR and DBCS Info Session
