Legislation on COVID-19 disability payments receives Royal Assent

On Monday, Bill C-20 received Royal Assent. This legislation will provide a one-time, non-taxable and non-reportable payment of up to $600 to support Canadians with disabilities to assist with expenses incurred during the pandemic.

To be eligible for the funding, you must be a recipient of one of the following programs or benefits:

  • Are holders of a valid Disability Tax Credit certificate
  • Currently receive Canada Pension Plan disability benefits or Quebec Pension Plan disability benefits; or
  • Are in receipt of disability supports provided by Veterans Affairs Canada

If you are eligible for the Disability Tax Credit (DTC) but have not applied, you have 60 days to apply for the Disability Tax Credit and receive the one-time payment of $600.
