Does your family include a 5-10-year-old in the early stages of learning braille? Want to encourage your child to embrace braille to help them to succeed in school and life?

CNIB has a program to support your family on this braille literacy journey!

  • Find out why braille is important and learn the basics yourself!
  • Get quick tips and tricks from other parents
  • Explore easy, inexpensive and fun ways to support a love of braille in your family

Make braille awareness a family affair! Teen siblings, aunts, uncles, grandparents and caregivers are all welcome to participate. Each household should register separately. Free Family Library braille resource packages will be provided on a first-come first-serve basis. Each package contains an assortment of printbraille books and items to make learning braille at home fun! Limit: one package per child.

Three one-hour workshops are tentatively scheduled for Sunday, January 31, February 7 and February 14. Note: presentation portions of workshops will be recorded, for families unable to attend the live sessions.

Registration required. To register for this program, contact Siradh Abdi, Coordinator, Braille and Literacy Operations at or call 1-800-563-2642.
