Employee Rights:

  • Know about hazards in your workplace
  • Participate in keeping your workplace healthy and safe
  • Refuse unsafe work

Employee Responsibilities:

  • Always practicing safe work procedures
  • Reporting unsafe conditions as quickly as possible to your supervisor or employer
  • Properly wearing any protective equipment the job requires
  • Not doing anything on the job that will endanger yourself or others

Employers’ Responsibilities:

  • Taking every reasonable precaution to protect a worker's health and safety
  • Making sure necessary safety equipment is provided, used properly and maintained
  • Informing workers and supervisors of any hazards and how to handle them
  • Ensuring that procedures are followed in the workplace
  • Providing information, instruction and competent supervision to protect the health and safety of workers

Supervisors’ Responsibilities:

  • Taking every reasonable precaution to protect a worker's health and safety
  • Informing workers of job hazards and ensure they are trained to do their jobs safely
  • Ensuring that workers work safely and use the equipment and protective devices properly where required
