Advocacy

Many of the major social changes in Canada have come about through voluntary sector lobbying and advocacy - from protection of individual rights, for example, to stricter laws against impaired driving and smoking.
Advocacy activities help an organization to put a human face on the issues involved and to showcase the benefits of its activities and programs to the local, national and/or international community.
What We're Doing?
CNIB believes that all Canadians should have full and equal access to the rights and responsibilities of citizenship, regardless of vision loss. We are working to eliminate discrimination on many fronts by:
ensuring library services in Canada are accessible to people with print disabilities;
working toward the establishment of a nationwide consumer products and assistive technology subsidy program;
lobbying for workplace accommodations for people with vision loss; and
working to build government partnerships to support investment in vision rehabilitation services and vision loss prevention programs.
Without these measures, people with vision loss face significant barriers to achieving their educational and career potential.
