Adults: Introduction to Library Services
La Bibliothèque en français
Listen to our Introduction to CNIB Library Service
audio file.
The CNIB Library is a service that provides choice and
independence for any Canadian with vision loss. We offer access
to thousands of materials in alternative formats.
The CNIB Library has something for everyone - whether you read
books all the time, or just want to borrow a good movie, or wish
to check the sports scores in your local newspaper.
How to Get Service:
Registered CNIB Clients
If you are a registered CNIB client, simply contact the CNIB
Library toll free at 1-800-268-8818 or e-mail
reader.services@cnib.ca
to sign up for library service. The library receives more than
50,000 calls and emails a year. If you call and get a voice mail
please leave a message with your name, telephone number
including an area code and a good time to call you back.
Not a Client?
If you are not yet a CNIB client, contact
CNIB in your
community, and once registered you will be able to sign up for
the library service. For more information on who can use CNIB's
Programs and Services, see our
Programs and Services section.
The CNIB Library gets many calls from people who do not have
vision loss, but are unable to access print for another reason
such as a learning or physical disability. If you require access
to talking books or the CNIB Digital Library for these reasons
but are not a registered CNIB client, please contact your local
public library.
Many public libraries have access to our books through the
CNIB Library Partners Program. They may also have a local collection of talking or large
print books on site. Public libraries can assist you with
accessing the books and information that you need, in the format
you need it in.
