Research Funding

CNIB Baker Fellowship Fund

Overview:

CNIB's Baker Fellowships are awarded annually for post-graduate training in ophthalmic subspecialties.

Amount of Award:

The amount of the fellowship is determined annually. The program offers fellowships for one year in amounts up to $40,000.

Eligibility:

Recipients must begin or return to an academic posting in Canada within three years of completing their training, or return to an area of need as supported by a letter from the Medical Director of the community. An outline of future plans supported by a letter of acceptance to an academic posting or alternate should accompany the application where possible. If the fellow does not return within a three-year time frame of completion of study, CNIB requests reimbursement for the funding provided.

Recipients are strongly encouraged to develop a relationship with their local CNIB office, and to assist CNIB in promotional and fund development opportunities.

Deadlines:

Applicants must apply online no later than January 15 to be eligible for consideration. Grants are provided quarterly commencing July 1 of the same year. Successful applicants are normally advised of their award in April.

Reporting:

A progress report is required prior to releasing the final quarter payment, including a brief report from the Project Supervisor.

The call for submissions for this year is now closed. We thank all those who applied.
