CNIB Baker Fellowship Fund
Overview:
CNIB's Baker Fellowships are awarded annually for post-graduate training in ophthalmic subspecialties.
Amount of Award:
The amount of the fellowship is determined annually. The program offers fellowships for one year in amounts up to $30,000.
Eligibility:
Recipients must begin or return to an academic posting in Canada within three years of completing their training, or return to an area of need as supported by a letter from the Medical Director of the community. An outline of future plans supported by a letter of acceptance to an academic posting or alternate should accompany the application where possible. This letter plays an important role in the eligibility of the candidate and strong efforts should be made to clarify that future position is available to the candidate. If the fellow does not return within a three-year time frame of completion of study to Canada, CNIB requests reimbursement for the funding provided.
Other financial assistance: Applicants who are expecting to receive funds or stipends from other sources amounting equal or more than $30,000 may not apply for CNIB Baker fellowship.
Deadlines:
Applicants must apply online no later than January 15 to be eligible for consideration. Fellowship funds are provided quarterly commencing July 1 of the following year. Successful applicants are normally advised of their award in April.
Reporting:
A progress report is required prior to releasing the final quarter payment, including a brief report from the Fellowship Supervisor.
