Welcome to CNIB Ontario!

CNIB is Canada’s primary source of support for people who are blind or partially sighted to have the confidence, skills and opportunities to fully participate in life. It’s our pleasure to share the CNIB Ontario 2016/17 Annual Report, highlighting the exciting activities and projects we undertook this past year.

Vision Loss Rehabilitation Ontario

The primary provider of vision loss rehab in Canada, funded in Ontario by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.

CNIB Foundation

Entirely dependent on charitable funding, we provide programs and services that address the social and emotional needs of people dealing with sight loss.

Deafblind Community Services

CNIB's Deafblind Intervenor Services and Literacy Programs are funded primarily by the province on Ontario.

CNIB Foundation Programs and Services

The CNIB Foundation was created April 1, 2017 to offer programs that complement and enhance our rehab services by addressing the social and emotional needs of people with sight loss, and building their confidence and self-advocacy skills to ensure they receive the accommodations they need to succeed. Programs focus on children and youth, as well as adults of working age and seniors.

Entirely dependent on charitable funding, the Foundation initially offers upgraded programs that were previously offered by our vision loss rehabilitation team. We are also introducing a number of new programs as we are able. We have begun by offering activities where we have locations and staff, however our plan is to expand to additional communities as we identify volunteers, partnerships and donors to cover the costs. In the fall of 2017, we will begin reaching out to local communities and creating partnerships to support that growth.
