Seniors Maintaining Active Roles Together (SMART) are community-based, volunteer-led exercise programs for seniors that accommodate all levels of ability, including vision loss. Organized by the local VON Canada branch, SMART programs improve strength, balance, and cardiovascular health, and reduce social isolation and hospital visits relating to falls. CNIB is pleased to host this free exercise program specifically for people with vision loss. Space is limited (maximum 8 people). NOTE: This popular class is currently at capacity. This phone group brings people with sight loss together to discuss any technical issue that affects their every-day lives and to share ideas and experiences that might be helpful to the group. Barrie Half Marathon: NEW Walk for a Cause June 03, 2018

Run – or walk! – along Barrie's scenic waterfront while supporting local charities like CNIB Simcoe/Muskoka! In addition to the half marathon, 10k and 5k options, a new 2.5k walkers course is designed to allow everyone to participate! Participants in this "Walk for a Cause" event will not be timed but will receive all the other benefits including t-shirt, finishers medal and post event snacks. A portion of every registration ($25 for walkers) will go back to local charities. The charity with the most support receives an additional donation of up to $1,000. Seniors Maintaining Active Roles Together (SMART) are community-based, volunteer-led exercise programs for seniors that accommodate all levels of ability, including vision loss. Organized by the local VON Canada branch, SMART programs improve strength, balance, and cardiovascular health, and reduce social isolation and hospital visits relating to falls. Glow for it this summer! CNIB is pleased to partner with Tangle Creek Golf and Country Club to offer a unique Glow-in-the-Dark event in support of CNIB Simcoe/Muskoka. Using glow-in-the-dark balls and glow sticks to mark holes, you'll have fun hitting the greens after the sun sets. Whether you're a golf pro or a novice, everyone will enjoy the game in this fun and relaxed environment. Bring a friend and sign up for this unique 2-person scramble.
