Scholarship Award of The Bell Aliant Pioneer Volunteers
Overview
The Scholarship Award of the Bell Aliant Pioneer Volunteers was established in 2006. It provides an annual scholarship award to a person with vision loss, living in Nova Scotia or Prince Edward Island, to assist with tuition costs while attending a post-secondary educational program.
Amount of Award
Under the management of the Bell Aliant Pioneer Volunteers and a CNIB selection committee, a candidate will be awarded a scholarship in the amount of $2,000.
Eligibility
The candidate must be aged 25 years or under, have a visual acuity of 20/70 or less with correction and be a Canadian Citizen residing in Nova Scotia or Prince Edward Island.
Candidates must be graduating from Grade 12 during the application year (or be a high school graduate) and registered in a post-secondary educational program. Candidates may also be presently employed but returning to an educational program.
The candidate should have a reasonable level of achievement and a genuine need for financial assistance.
Deadline
Application forms and all documentation must be received by the Selection Committee by May 15, 2013.
Application Process
To be considered for the Scholarship Award of the Bell Aliant Pioneer Volunteers, candidates must submit the following information:
Completed Application Form
Two letters of reference: (1) educational letter of recommendation, and (2) personal or community letter of recommendation including contact information (address, telephone, fax and e-mail).
Letter of acceptance from post-secondary educational institution.
Documentation providing information about candidate’s visual acuity.
