New Honorary Chair for CNIB Board

CNIB has elected a new Honorary Chair to its Board of Directors, for the first time in over ten years. Bob Waugh was born in Hamilton, ON, and worked with General Motors Corporation at locations in Canada and the United States.

In 1969, he became an assistant comptroller of GM and in 1974 he returned to Canada as vice-president, chief financial officer and a director of General Motors of Canada. Following his retirement from GM he acted as president of the Financial Executive Institute, Canada.

In 1988 he was elected to CNIB’s National Board, and later served as its chair. He has been active on committees of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and in other national business organizations as well as in community groups in the cities in which he has lived.

He has served on the McMaster University Board of Governors and Senate, the Board of Directors of the McMaster University Foundation, and as trustee of the Alumni Council.

Mr. Waugh, a lieutenant-commander, retired, of the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve, has received awards for volunteering, including Canada's 125th Anniversary of Confederation medal, the Golden Jubilee medal of Queen Elizabeth II and the 2002 Ontario Volunteer Service Award. Bob and Audrey's two sons live in the United States.
