Volunteers are the heart of our vision

CNIB has always been an organization of people helping people, and nowhere is that more evident than in the dedicated work of our volunteers.

Our volunteers help by providing one-on-one sighted assistance to individuals with vision loss. By reading letters and newspapers. Enjoying fun activities together like playing cards and going for walks. Assisting with organizing items in kitchens and closets. And helping with grocery shopping and weekly errands.

CNIB volunteers also lead and help organize fundraising events. They advocate for accessibility and help others adjust to the emotional and social impact of sight loss. They coordinate audio book clubs, teach cooking classes and provide vital administrative support.

At CNIB, volunteers are the heart of our vision and we’d like to thank our dedicated team for the extraordinary work they do each and every day. Together, we’re making a tremendous impact.

In honour of National Volunteer Week (April 12 to 18), CNIB recognizes our amazing volunteers who, every day, make a lasting difference in the lives of Nova Scotians and Islanders who are blind or partially sighted.

You too can make a difference; get involved today by calling 1.800.563.2642 or visiting cnib.ca/ns/volunteer.
