CNIB is active in every region of Newfoundland and Labrador, with staff and volunteers working in offices in St. John’s, Grand Falls-Windsor and Corner Brook and often traveling to provide support to people in their homes and in rural communities.

  • CNIB Newfoundland and Labrador Vision Health and Rehabilitation Committee

    Mission: To develop a vision health framework for Newfoundland and Labrador by engaging consumers, community, health care, university and government partners with the goals of facilitating the best quality of life for people living with vision loss in our province and reducing the incidence of vision loss and blindness through public education and early detection.

    Who would ever consider the possibility of waking up one day and realizing there is something seriously wrong with your vision,” asks Jim Hynes, a 45 year old Operations Logistics Coordinator with Technip Canada in St. John’s. “It was the furthest thing from my mind”.

    Recently the possibility became a reality when Jim lost the sight in his right eye. Now he is a man on a mission to raise awareness about vision health and the importance of CNIB programs and services to someone experiencing vision loss. Jim is the spokesperson for the CNIB Everyday Hero fundraising campaign and he is calling on his friends and associates to help him. Meet Jim Hynes
