Bob Hamel has been a volunteer with CNIB since 1995 when he retired from Veterans Affairs in Saint John. Prior to his retirement, Bob’s vision deteriorated and he turned to CNIB to assist him. With the help of the low vision specialist, Bob was able to continue his employment until his retirement. “CNIB was instrumental in keeping me at Veteran’s Affairs for the last 5-6 years before I retired. When I retired, a member of the local CNIB Board asked me if I would be interested in sharing my experiences with others by joining CNIB’s Volunteer Board. The rest as they say is history. It is so great to have the opportunity to utilize my work related experiences in support of this charity and give back to the organization that had helped me so much. I have never regretted that decision!”
Bob had been one of our strongest ticket sellers for our many lottery campaigns through out the years. He is a very personable individual with an easygoing personality and always has a smile on his face. His professionalism is wonderful and he is a snappy dresser as well. This garnered him the Best Dressed Volunteer Award in 2008. You will find Bob helping out with our reception area, assisting other clients and performing public education roles as well. It is great to have Bob on our team! Keep up the great work Bob!
