Trio Bike Pilot

Do you enjoy bike riding? Do you want to stay active while developing meaningful connections with others? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then the CNIB has the perfect volunteer opportunity for you!

CNIB is introducing our Trio Bike. Nothing beats witnessing the joy of the passengers and pilots interactions on and about the trio bike. Passengers return from their first ride with smiles on their faces, wind blown hair, rosy cheeks and new stories to share.

Considering becoming a Trio Bike Pilot. Volunteering as a Trio Bike Pilot you will:

  • Interact in a friendly and energetic manner with people who are blind or partially sighted

  • Spend up to two hours per outing biking in the community with people who are blind or partially sighted ​

Successful candidates should be:

  • Physically active

  • Knowledgeable about bikes

  • Empathetic

  • Patient

  • Friendly

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Reliable and able to work with minimal supervision

Flexible hours and shifts are available including days, evenings, and weekends. Training will be provided.​

Vision Mate 

Are you a patient, empathetic and friendly person who is reliable, organized and able to work with minimal supervision?

Do you have excellent communication skills and want to provide one-on-one sighted assistance to a person who is blind or partially sighted?

Consider becoming a Vision Mate. Volunteering as a Vision Mate you will:

  • Regularly visit a client in his/her home or other suitable environment at a mutually convenient time
  • Engage in pre-determined activities such as:
  • Reading mail, newspapers or books
  • Being a companion for social activities and conversations 
  • Accompanying client on shopping excursions and personal social outings

Successful candidates will require a criminal record check including the vulnerable sector check (current within 6 months), and take part in comprehensive training.

This position requires a minimum 6 month commitment. Flexible hours and shifts are available.

Door to Door Canvassers 

Community groups canvass local areas in support of United Way or Donor’s choice campaigns which benefit CNIB. Campaign dates vary with each community. Canvassers are needed to assist a few evenings during the campaign. Areas include: Carmen, Manitou, Oak Lake, Morden and Winkler, Reston a​nd Souris.

If we don't recruit canvassers to assist, CNIB may not receive funding from these campaigns.
