Volunteer Opportunities
CNIB is always looking for volunteers. Whether you’re
interested in helping with programs and services, assisting with office
administration, or ensuring that our fundraising campaigns meet their
targets, we offer unique opportunities to make a difference in the lives of
people with vision loss. Join us today!
When thinking about what type of volunteer work you would like to do,
consider the following:
- How much time do I have to give?
- What do I want to gain from this experience?
Also, consider what type of role you would like to perform: would you enjoy
working directly or indirectly with an individual with vision loss, in an
office environment, or as a part of a committee of volunteers?
All volunteers will be required to attend an orientation and will need to
obtain, at their own expense, a standard Criminal Reference Check.

Program Assistant: Provide one-on-one assistance with games, crafts,
choir, dancing, pottery, woodworking, aquasize, and bowling. (Winnipeg only)

Kitchen Assistant: Assist in the kitchen by preparing light snacks and
beverages, serving, and cleaning up afterwards. (Winnipeg only)

Drivers: Assist people with vision loss with their transportation needs as
required for Peer Support and Leisure Group outings. (Winnipeg and
Saskatoon)

Bingo: CNIB operates a bingo at the Centennial Bingo Hall in Regina in
conjunction with Amalgamated Charities, Inc. These monthly bingos provide a
steady source of revenue for CNIB programs and services. We need volunteers!
A commitment of at least five hours per month is required. To confirm CNIB

Car Raffle: Staff car raffle booths at local malls and fairs.

Art Auction: Help in various roles and functions at this event. (Winnipeg
only)

Gift Wrapping: Smiling Elves will be helping a large contingent of CNIB
volunteers wrap gifts at Brandon Shopper’s Mall during the month of
December. This is the sixth year the mall has partnered with CNIB to raise
funds for people living with vision loss. To volunteer, please call the
Brandon office at 204-727-0631.

Golf Tournaments: Help in various roles and functions at these events.

Campaign Convening: Organize rural fall door-to-door campaigns.

Door-to-Door Canvassing for CNIB: Solicit funds in rural areas.

Door-to-Door Canvassing for United Way: Solicit funds for United Way in
rural Manitoba.

Special Events Assistant: Organize and assist with various events.

Clerical Support: Office assistance with filing, phoning, photocopying,
data entry and mail-outs.

Client Satisfaction Survey: Complete impartial survey to assess level of
satisfaction for services provided.

Public Awareness/Education: Represent CNIB at public presentations,
promotional events and agency seminars.

Division Board Volunteers: Volunteer board members attend quarterly
planning meetings.

Committee Volunteers: Volunteers are needed to serve on various
committees, such as special event committees.
